Identifying wood types pictures to know which wood will work for your custom furniture piece.
We love wood!!
Identifying wood types pictures can make it easier to figure out the wood species. In our projects, we were not married to a certain species of wood. We were looking for a beautiful piece. If you visit our showroom at Design Drive, you will see many wood projects by some incredible Furniture Makers Kansas City.
Elm Furniture
This is a live edge elm console table with metal O legs.
Hackberry Furniture
Hackberry is one of our favorite woods. It is native to Kansas & Missouri. This stump turned coffee table showcases the talent of the crafter in bringing out the beauty of the hackberry. The finish is so smooth. To quote her, it is butter smooth. Another furniture maker came into the showroom & said, “I do cool things with stumps, but I can’t do that.”
Walnut Table
Walnut is extremely popular. As such, the demand is strong & pricing higher.
Walnut Floating Cabinet
Maple Furniture
We use wood to accompany our repurposed metal overheads. Here is maple!
For this transaction top, we used maple. The maple warmed up the piece and brought out the lighter pieces of the reclaimed wood.
Pecan Furniture
This pecan floating cabinet is stunning!
Cedar Furniture
When we made this cedar piece, we teased it was a combo air freshener & functional floating cabinet. Whatever you want to call it, it is pretty!
Mixed Wood Furniture
We believe one of the best mixed wood furniture makers is a few doors down from us. He blends wood in a way that is poetic. This hexagon table is a mixture of maple, cherry, & walnut.
Here is a video to identify wood for custom furniture with even more samples: hickory, sweet gum, sycamore, red oak, poplar, etc.
See some wood you like? Look at your calendar, e-mail us some convenient times niki@greencleandesigns.com, & meet with a custom maker to work on your project.
