Mid Century Man Cave Office
This Mid Century man cave office features a classic tanker desk. We love seeing how folks design their home office with must haves to fit their personality. This male themed office reminds us of aluminum office desks we did for a group of drafters.
We knew this tanker desk was waiting for the right home and it certainly found it! Eric contacted us and wanted to come see the desk. He and his wife retired and just moved to Branson. This desk would be the perfect piece for his man cave office.
It was a very hot July day when they arrived to the showroom. My partner was there to help load the desk. One of the trademark features of a tanker desk is the weight. They are heavy and a 2 – 3 person job to move them! There was also a hiccup with their truck. It wasn’t cooling down and they would need a tow back to Branson.
As we waited for the tow truck, we were able to learn more about our client. They had worked in sales and lived in Michigan. During a trip to the big island in Hawaii, they visited a park. After watching the 1 hot dog vendor in the park, Eric thought, “Wow, how does one get that gig?”
A few years later, it was him with the contract to be the only food vendor in the state park. We talked about the fun and challenges of having a daily picnic for 700 and Hawaiian shave ice. After running the food truck for 15+ years, they had planned to retire at the end of the year. Covid moved the retirement day up. They looked at the map and decided Branson was a central location to family. Most times folks are in and out of the showroom. While the vehicle trouble was a disappointment, it was lovely learning about their business as we waited.
Then, we picked out the perfect leather desk chair to compliment the tanker desk. This National office chair was a chair I had walked by hundreds of times. It wasn’t until Eric described the room, that we realized it was the right chair for the space.
When Eric sent the pictures of the desk, he also sent a picture of the wet bar he created. He put a sink in his tool chest and added the counter and back splash. He said one drawer isn’t usable due to the sink, but the rest of the chest works perfect. The retro styled red refrigerator matches the red stripe on the wall and ties all the man cave together.
